Shehzad Roy calls on PM Shehbaz at Sindh Governor House
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday met renowned singer and social activist Shehzad Rai after attending the opening ceremony of Textile Expo in Karachi.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori, the two dignitaries discussed the devastating, rain-triggered floods that inundated a third of the country last year.
Governor Tesori, who earlier welcomed the Prime Minister at the Pakistan Air Force Faisal Base on his arrival in the port city, took to Twitter to share about his meeting with him and Roy at the Governor’s House.
Roy, who is the founder and president of Zindagi Trust, is known for his philanthropic efforts and work to create awareness on social issues. He is very vocal on issues related to education reform and child support, as well as corporal punishment of children and children’s right to education.
The singer and philanthropist lauded their rehabilitation measures for providing immediate relief to the victims and ensuring their survival during the disaster.
A day earlier, he addressed an event organized by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in Islamabad regarding the Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Rules, 2022.

Earlier this month, President Arif Alvi also honored Rai with the Education Excellence Award.
The award was given at a summit organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) at Awan Sadar.
He has earlier also received the Tagha Imtiaz, Satara Isaar and Satara Imtiaz for his exemplary services to the country.
