Expressing grief over the May 9 tragedy, two more leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) – singer-turned-politician Abrarul Haq and senator Saifullah Niazi – announced to quit the party on Friday.

The mass exodus of PTI leaders began when security forces launched a crackdown on the party following attacks on civil and military institutions, including the general headquarters in Rawalpindi and the Lahore Corps Commander’s House (Jinnah House).

The riots began with the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case by the Islamabad High Court on May 9 – a day observed by the army as “Black Day”.

While giving a press conference in Lahore, Haqprast said that I regret standing with Imran Khan.
