The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday reprimanded the Additional Attorney General in light of the statement of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shireen Mazari. Re-arrestHe said the court should have been informed that “it was all politics”.

“You should have told the court that this is all politics and has nothing to do with the cases,” the IHC said while hearing contempt of court pleas against the former federal minister’s repeated arrests despite orders for his release. Remarks were given.

Islamabad High Court Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the complainant Mazari’s daughter Iman Mazari appeared in the court along with her lawyer Zainab Janjua.

The court said that the state should have told the court earlier that Mazari’s arrest has nothing to do with Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO), and that it is all a matter of politics.

Mazari and other PTI leaders were re-arrested after getting relief. IHC who asked the authorities not to arrest him again. However, soon after his release on May 17, he was re-arrested by the Punjab Police.

Big shock to PTI Mazari On Tuesday, Khan announced his departure from the party, which has lost several veteran leaders in recent days following the May 9 debacle.

Addressing a press conference in the federal capital, Mazari, a close aide of Khan, condemned the May 9 riots during which PTI supporters vandalized and torched public and defense installations across the country.

“I strongly condemn the May 9 violence. I have always condemned any form of violence,” he said.

Mazari said that she is leaving not only her party but also politics. “From today, I am not part of any political party.” The former politician also said that his health deteriorated during the last 12 days of detention.

“I have children and parents. [now] My preference,” he commented.

“I condemn violence against state symbols like GHQ, Parliament and Supreme Court,” she added.

The veteran politician added that she has also submitted an affidavit in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) promising that she will not be part of any violent protests in future.
