The main event was held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi where Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir was the chief guest. During the ceremony, great tributes were paid to the martyrs and important personalities placed flowers on the memorial martyrs.

President Arif Alvi said in his message that the entire nation is proud of its brave martyrs who showed patriotism and fearlessness in the trying hours of history.
“The nation is indebted to the bravery and sacrifices of the jawans (soldiers) and officers of our armed forces, including the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Air Force, Navy, Police and other security agencies who made Pakistan’s defense impregnable.” A statement issued by the press wing of the President’s Secretariat said.

In a detailed tweet, the Prime Minister expressed regret over the May 9 violence and the desecration of martyrs’ memorials, saying that these incidents gave the enemy a reason to celebrate.
“Our nation knows how to protect the honor of its martyrs. […] Today we renew and reiterate our pledge to honor our martyrs. The essence of Pakistan’s existence lies in the spiritual bond between its people and martyrs,” the prime minister wrote on Twitter.
Additionally, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chiefs of Trilateral Services, retired service officers and civil society representatives also paid tributes to the martyrs of Pakistan, said a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations. .
He said that the sacrifices of the martyrs are eternal and will continue to influence the future generations of the country.
