Japan shooting and knife attack in Nagano reportedly leaves 3 dead, including 2 police officers
Tokyo Three people, including two police officers, were killed in a shooting and stabbing in Japan’s central Nagano region on Thursday, according to public broadcaster NHK and other Japanese media.
Earlier, police said a masked man armed with a rifle and knife was hiding in a building in Nagano after attacking at least four people.
Officers rushed to the scene in Nakano, in the central Japanese province of Nagano, after a passerby reported a disturbance.
A witness told NHK public television that a woman fell while being chased by the suspect, who stabbed her and shot two policemen as they arrived at the scene.
Three of the victims, including the woman, were taken to a nearby hospital and later declared brought dead, police said.
Kyodo news agency said police described the suspect as wearing camouflage clothing, a hat, a mask and sunglasses. City officials urged residents in the area to stay indoors.
