Govt reappoints Irfan Qadir as SAPM on accountability

ISLAMABAD: Former Attorney General and eminent jurist Irfan Qadir has been re-appointed as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Accountability. News Reported

Qadir was first appointed SAPM for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in September last year but resigned on March 29 after appearing before the Supreme Court as a lawyer for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). was given

After his latest appointment, Faqeeh will take care of matters related to accountability as he is known for his strong advocacy against corruption and corrupt practices.

He will hold the rank equivalent to a Minister of State and will have his office in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), his appointment notification said.

Earlier, Qadir served as Judge of Lahore High Court (LHC), Attorney General of Pakistan and Prosecutor General of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

His appointment on this occasion is being seen as an important development in the context of pending cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in NAB and accountability courts.

Sources say that Qadir’s legal advice will be of utmost importance in cases against the PTI chairman.
