‘Efforts’ underway to arrest Parvez Elahi after bail cancellation
- Elahi was on bail in the Development Scheme corruption case.
- The council says that Parvez Elahi has chest pain.
- The medical report shared with the court was declared fake.
LAHORE: ‘Efforts’ are on to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Pervez Elahi after his bail in a corruption case was canceled by an anti-corruption court.
The court canceled the PTI leader’s bail. He got bail till today.
Elahi’s lawyer pleaded before the judge that his client was unable to appear due to chest pain.
However, the prosecution maintained that the medical report of the former Punjab chief minister was “fake”, which was also confirmed by the Services Hospital.
After the arguments were completed, the judge canceled Elahi’s bail.
The former Chief Minister of Punjab recently jumped ship and joined PTI in March this year. He was appointed President by PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
Since then there have been several attempts to arrest the PTI leader and legal troubles have mounted. However, he got bail in most of the cases that came up for hearing today.
The cancellation of bail and plans to arrest him also come amid a crackdown on the PTI following the protests that followed the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan.
