Madeleine McCann: Search for ‘evidence’ in toddler’s disappearance continues in Portugal with K9s, divers
Portuguese, English and German authorities continued to search for him on Wednesday Madeleine McCann – a British girl who disappeared as a toddler from Portugal in 2007 — with search dogs and dive teams.
Madeleine was abducted from a ground-floor apartment while she was on a family holiday. Priya da LuzPortugal, on May 3, 2007, when she was 3 years old.
“We have indications that we may find evidence there,” German prosecutor Christian Wolters told broadcaster NDR of the search area in Portugal’s Algarve region. “I don’t want to say exactly what it is, and I don’t want to say where the clues come from.”
Portugal’s judicial police confirmed on Monday that they would search the area near the dam over the next several days “at the request of German authorities” and “with the presence of British authorities”.

Earlier on Monday, police were seen conducting searches near the Arade Dam, about 31 miles from Praia da Luz. The police are expected. To provide more information once it becomes available.

“The only thing I’ll clarify is that it didn’t come from the suspect. So, we don’t have a confession or anything like that right now, or any indication from the suspect. “That’s not where the search is meant to be,” Walters said, adding that “it was the other clues that led us to the search.”

A source familiar with the investigation told Reuters, however, that photos of Arad Dam found at suspect Christian Bruckner’s hideout could lead to a search.

In 2020, German authorities Bruckner, 45, was named as a suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance. Brueckner continues to deny his involvement in the case.

He was charged in 2022 with sexual offenses against children. The German authorities are accused. He committed in Portugal between 2000 and 2017, and is currently serving time for raping a woman in 2005.

Madeleine was born in May 2003 and will be 20 this month.
