Pakistan discusses bilateral cooperation with China during third BPC talks

Pakistan and China The Foreign Office said on Sunday that bilateral relations were discussed, and it was agreed to expand and strengthen political and security cooperation, bilateral trade, economic and financial cooperation, cultural exchange, tourism and people-to-people ties.

The two sides expressed their views during the third round of China-Pakistan Bilateral Political Consultation (BPC) held in Beijing on March 18.

According to the FO, Pakistan and China will also promote high-level engagement and dialogue mechanisms and strengthen channels of communication.

Noting the completion of a decade of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), both sides reiterated their commitment to CPEC as a pillar of bilateral cooperation and a symbol of the ever-deepening friendship between the two countries.

They also agreed to engage in the expansion of CPEC, including the participation of third parties, to enhance regional connectivity and cooperation.

Dr. Majeed expressed his gratitude for China’s continuous and generous support for Pakistan’s economic stability and humanitarian assistance during the devastating floods of 2022. Meanwhile, Sun reiterated China’s support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and economic security.

“Both sides discussed a number of regional and global issues of mutual interest and expressed satisfaction over close cooperation and engagement on key regional developments, including Afghanistan,” the statement said.

He further said that Pakistan And China will further strengthen dialogue and cooperation in multilateral platforms.
