According to INSACOG, the forum that studies and monitors genome sequencing and virus mutations of circulating strains of COVID-19 in India, a total of 76 samples of the new CoVID variant XBB 1.16 have been detected in the country.
According to official data, these specimens have been found in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Delhi, Telangana, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Odisha. Statistics show that Karnataka and Maharashtra have the highest number of XBB cases at 1.16.
