Canada eases immigration for quake-hit Syrians and Turks

Montreal: Canada has taken steps to ease the immigration process for Turkish and Syrian nationals who were already living in the country. A devastating earthquake which claimed more than 50,000 lives in both countries.

The move, which was announced on Saturday, is aimed at providing much-needed relief and assistance to those affected by the tragedy.

More than 45,000 people were killed in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on February 6. Turkey And destroyed thousands, and millions more, of buildings in neighboring Syria.

“Committed to providing assistance to those affected by the devastating earthquakes in Canada. Turkey and Syria” said Shaun Fraser, Minister for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.

The new measures, for example, will allow people from countries that allow foreigners to work for any employer for a specified period to apply for a work permit.

“Today we are introducing new measures that will make it easier for Turkish and Syrian nationals to extend their stay in Canada and stay with their families, while continuing to work and study in a safe environment,” added Fraser. Fraser added.

The announcement comes 10 days after the United Nations urged the international community to speed up the resettlement of Syrian refugees from earthquake-hit areas in Turkey.
