ISLAMABAD: Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Asad Umar on Saturday wrote a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Atta Bandyal and asked him to support the Pakistan Democratic Movement-led government. Umar mentioned in the letter that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had restrained law enforcement agencies from arresting Khan in the Tosha Khana case and the Lahore High Court had restrained his arrest in nine cases.

While Khan was on his way to Islamabad to appear in the trial court today, the Punjab Police raided his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, while “doors and walls have been leveled,” he said.

Police have arrested around 40 PTI workers – four days after they arrived to arrest the former prime minister in the Tosha Khana case at the same spot where a fight broke out.

In the current circumstances, Umar told the CJP that he had “strong reasons” to believe that the state was bent on “compromising the freedom of Imran Khan in a highly illegal manner” to take revenge on the PTI chief. Is”.

Legal proceedings against Khan began after he was removed from the prime minister’s office in a parliamentary vote early last year. Since then, he has been calling for early elections and holding nationwide protests, and was shot and injured at one of his rallies in Wazirabad on November 3.

Current Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has rejected Khan’s demands and said that the elections will be held later this year as per the schedule.

The PTI chief has also filed a similar petition in the IHC asking the high court to restrain all authorities, including the National Accountability Bureau, from arresting him under any circumstances.

Currently, Khan is heading to the Islamabad Judicial Complex where he will appear before Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal in the Tosha Khana case.
