PM Shehbaz lauds services of umpire Aleem Dar
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the umpire on Saturday. Aleem Dar For his outstanding services to international cricket.
On Twitter, the Prime Minister said: “Pakistan thanks Umpire Aleem Dar for his outstanding service to international cricket, as he steps down from the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires.”
Dar resigned from the ICC elite panel of umpires on March 16 after 19 years.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said: “His impeccable umpiring in all formats of the game won accolades in the cricketing world. Pakistan is proud of it!
The 54-year-old Dar, who holds the record, has umpired in 435 Tests, ODIS and T20s for men, including four World Cup finals.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) posted on its Twitter account that Dar had a long and illustrious career as an international umpire. He made his international debut in 2000 and quickly rose through the ranks, earning praise from players and fans alike for his solid decisions in matches.
Dar was appointed to the ICC International Panel of Umpires in 2002 and officiated at the 2003 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in South Africa. C was appointed as a member of the elite panel of umpires. He was the first Pakistani to be appointed to the elite panel.
