Louisiana convicted child rapist to be chemically castrated after serving 35-year prison sentence

Ryan Clark, 34, pleaded guilty March 1 to felony charges of second-degree rape when the victim was prevented from resisting by force or threats, two counts of molestation of a minor under 13, and sexual battery.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified on July 16, 2020, of a “possible incident between Clark and a juvenile.

According to 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott M. Periloux, the victim said the behavior had been going on for more than a year.

When the juvenile was interviewed, the second victim was discovered, District Attorney said.

Clark was arrested on July 17, 2020, on charges of sexual assault and molestation of a minor.

Prior to his guilty plea he was convicted of misdemeanor carnal information with a minor for receiving oral sex in a public place and spent 228 days in jail in 2021.

Clark will serve a total of 35 years within the Louisiana Department of Corrections, the first 25 of which will be “served without benefits,” Perilloux said.

After Clark is released from prison, he must submit to chemical castration, Perilloux said, in addition to registering as a sex offender, and have all parental rights terminated.

According to FOX 8, chemical castration was legalized in Louisiana in 2008 when former governor Bobby Jindal signed a bill into law that would allow drug treatment for those convicted of certain crimes, such as that molestation of a minor, aggravated rape, aggravated rape, second-degree sexual battery, aggravated lewdness, and aggravated crime against nature.
