Imran Khan forms ‘committee’ to lead PTI if he is arrested

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formed a committee to lead the party in case of Imran Khan’s arrest, the former prime minister said. Reuters Hours before an appearance before a court that had issued A warrant for his arrest.

The former prime minister and cricket legend has led protests across the country since being ousted from power last year and has several cases registered against him.

“I have formed a committee that will obviously take decisions once – if I – am inside the jail,” the 70-year-old said in an interview at his Lahore home before leaving for Islamabad on Saturday morning.

Recently, police efforts to arrest Khan led to clashes in which dozens of police personnel were injured. However, hours after Khan left the capital today to attend the Tosha Khana case hearing, the Punjab Police raided his Zaman Park residence and arrested several party workers.

He told Reuters that there are 94 cases against him.

Khan, who was shot and wounded while campaigning in November, said the threat to his life was greater than ever and said, without providing evidence, that his opponents were targeting him in elections later this year. Want to stop standing.

Khan said that there is no reason to arrest him now as he has been granted bail in all the cases. If convicted in any case, Khan could face disqualification from contesting elections in November.

The former prime minister has built popular support among Pakistanis amid decades of high inflation and an economic slowdown as the country implements painful financial reforms to stave off default. Thousands of people have rallied behind him every time he has called for protests.

“I just think that the people who are trying to do that don’t understand the situation. Unfortunately, the minds that are thinking of killing me or putting me in jail, I don’t think they understand that Pakistan Where is the time.”
