Dispelling Common Hair Care Myths During the Transitional Period
As we transition from winter to summer, there are many misconceptions about the promise of healthy, happy hair. Suppose you’ve been told or heard that you shouldn’t wash your hair every day because it can cause breakage or that you should oil your hair periodically to treat dandruff. Let’s clear up some of these misconceptions.
Myth 1: You shouldn’t wash your hair every day because it can cause breakage.
The truth is that during summers our hair is often exposed to pollution, chlorine and sun. Therefore, delicate cleansing is essential every day. By using a sulfate-free shampoo, you can maintain the bounce and shine of your hair without stripping it of its natural oils.
Myth 2: Conditioning your hair in the heat makes it oily.
Truth: Hair becomes dry and damaged after exposure to various elements like sun and chlorine. Therefore, applying a quality conditioner will reduce dryness and damage. Using a deep conditioning mask also contributes to healthy hair. To seal in moisture, conditioner is always applied to the ends or middle of the hair.

Myth 3: Because hair oils make hair greasy, they should not be used in summer.
Truth: Using hair oil can give your hair a layer of defense against damage, keeping it smooth and shiny. The fatty acids in the oil replenish the hair’s depleted lipids, strengthening it from the inside out.
Myth 4: Frequent haircuts promote healthier and stronger hair growth.
Truth: Hair cutting does not affect the hair roots or follicles. Frequent haircuts will reduce the number of split ends.
Myth 5: Healthy hair can be achieved with 100 brush strokes a day.
The truth is that frequent, aggressive brushing can weaken and damage hair. Instead, a soft brush can increase blood flow. Do not brush wet hair as this can cause breakage.

A variety of conditions, including any chemical treatments you’ve given your hair or where you live, will determine whether you need to switch to a new shampoo or conditioner. Using the right shampoo and conditioner can benefit your hair.
Myth 7: Applying oil to your hair will prevent dryness.
Truth: Skin fungus is what causes dandruff. You cannot get rid of dandruff by applying oil to your hair. You can solve your dandruff problems by using a decent anti-dandruff shampoo.
Myth 8: Heat styling in summer is more damaging to hair.
The truth is that heat styling can damage your hair not only in summer but all year round. Before using any heat styling tools, always apply an appropriate heat protectant to the hair.
