KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday released a commemorative coin of Rs 50 on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Senate, the Upper House of Parliament.

A State Bank statement said that the year 2023 marks the golden jubilee of the Senate and to mark this momentous occasion, the federal government authorized the central bank to issue a commemorative coin of Rs.50.

The Senate of Pakistan is the upper house of the bicameral parliament with equal representatives from all provinces of Pakistan and is constitutionally a permanent house, symbolizing continuity in national affairs.

This coin is being issued through exchange counters of all field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation from March 17. The coin measures 30 mm, weighs 13.5 grams and is round in shape with a cupro-nickel alloy composition of % copper and 25% nickel.

The face of the coin features a waxy crescent moon and a five-pointed star facing north-west in a central position, while the words ‘Islamic Republic of Pakistan’ in Urdu are inscribed along the circle, above the crescent star. . Scripts.

Below the crescent and on top of two springs of wheat are arms curved upwards, the year of issue is 2023. The denomination of the coin is written in 50 digits in bold letters and ‘Rupiya’ in Urdu script on the right and left side of the crescent star respectively.

The reverse and center of the coin features the insignia of the Senate of Pakistan with the artistic numeral 50 on the right side.

Along with the circle, on the top of the emblem is written ‘Pakistan Senate Golden Jubilee’ in Urdu script.

Below the sign is written the Golden Jubilee period (1973-2023).
