Actress Ifat Umar has been very vocal about her support for PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif, especially on social media. In a recent interview, the actor objected to people alleging that the politician had undergone a facial beautification procedure and said that trolls were jealous of her “natural beauty”.

In a conversation with a local news channel on her political views, the host asked Ifta to comment that social media users compared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s “fake plaster” to Maryam’s “face”. How to do plastic surgery? To which, Ifat said she could vouch that the politician had done “nothing” to her face.

“I’m from showbiz so I can tell who has done what to their face and body and that [Maryam] Nothing has happened to his face at all. This, I can guarantee. Now if she is beautiful then be jealous, what else can you say? Sohni te hai vo (She is very beautiful),” he said. “It is not a problem. Your leader is also handsome, getting old but still handsome,” she laughs, referring to Imran.

When asked if Ifta supports the PML-N, he quickly corrected the host and said that his support was in fact with the PDM. “Working is where PML-N is good. They always deliver and when it comes to policy making, there is no one better than the People’s Party. If they work together, if people let people work together, So I see the future of Pakistan in their hands, he said.
