Indian singer-composer AR Rahman holds a prestigious position in the Indian film industry and after his two Oscar wins in 2009 for the much-acclaimed film, Slumdog Millionaire.

As per Hindustan TimesIn an interview with composer L Subramaniam, Rahman insisted that Indians were submitting the “wrong” kind of films for the Oscars.
“Sometimes, I see our movies go to the Oscars and they don’t. The wrong movies are being sent to the Oscars. And I’m just like, ‘Don’t do that.’ We have to be in the other person’s shoes. “I have to be in the shoes of Westerners to see what is happening here. I have to be in my shoes to see what they are doing,” he shared.
In 2009, after winning the award for Best Original Song and Best Original Score, Rahman became part of an exclusive club in India. The group also included costume designer Bhanu Athiya, lyricist Gulzar and sound designer Risal Pokoti for the Oscar trophy. However, with recent wins, the group’s dynamic has changed.
