Islamabad: Islamic ideological Counsil (CII) Chairman Dr. Qibla Ayaz on Wednesday – after review Transgender people (Protection Rights) Rules in detail – provision of ‘self-perceived identity’ has been declared un-Islamic.
Addressing a press conference after sensitizing all stakeholders in the two-day meeting, he said that these laws are made in continuation of the Transgender Act and contain several provisions and clauses which are not compatible with Shariah.
The Council expressed concern over the social and legal issues faced by intersex and transgender persons and emphasized that the fundamental human rights of intersex and transgender persons should be ensured and protected.
Dr. Qibla said that during the meeting, the council also reviewed the amendment bills presented by Senator Mohsin Aziz, Senator Mushtaq Ahmed and Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari and suggested amendments in them.
It is to be mentioned here that besides the members of the Council and other prominent religious scholars and leaders, transgender representatives, doctors, legal and social experts, civil society organizations, National Database and Registration Authority and the Ministry of Human Rights also participated. . Meeting to review all aspects of issues related to intersex and transgender community.
Meanwhile, the Council members adopted a resolution regarding the International Day for the Elimination of Islamophobia and hailed the decision of the United Nations to celebrate March 15 every year as a commendable initiative.
The Council hoped that continuous, integrated and comprehensive measures in this context would yield positive results.
He hoped that some elements of the West and some countries of the world are engaged in nefarious intentions to create an atmosphere of fear and hatred against Islam and Muslims, due to which the peace of the world is seriously threatened.
He urged all countries and international civil society organizations to work for peace, tolerance and human relations in the world.
The Council expressed its willingness to be a part of any struggle against Islamophobia and assured that it will play its best role in trying to create an environment of peace and harmony so that the creatures of Allah Almighty can live in peace and tranquility. could
