Tiffany Haddish says she lost all her gigs after abuse claim
The plaintiffs were referred to as “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” in the lawsuit, which said their names are being withheld to protect their privacy.
According to the complaint, a copy of which was obtained by CNN, “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” were 14 and 7 years old, respectively, when Haddish and Spears allegedly sexually assaulted them in separate incidents in 2013 and 2014. But was asked to participate in provocative videos.
The pair are siblings and Haddish was a “longtime family friend” of his mother. The incidents allegedly occurred when Haddish was trying to help young people get into show business, according to the suit.
At the time the lawsuit was filed, an attorney for Haddish said in a statement to CNN that the plaintiff’s mother “has been trying to prove these false claims against Ms. Haddish for years.”
“Every lawyer who initially took her case — and there were many — eventually dropped the case when it became clear that the claims were without merit and that Ms. Haddish was not will be shaken,” the statement added, adding that the mother “has her adult daughter representing herself in this case. Together, they will face the consequences of this frivolous action.”
Jane Doe filed a notice of dismissal Tuesday and the case was dismissed with prejudice based on documents provided to CNN by Haddish’s representative. A dismissal with prejudice means the case cannot be retried.
CNN has reached out to “Jane Doe” for comment.
Attorneys for Haddish and Spears did not respond to CNN’s requests for comment.
When asked by TMZ if she thought the layoff would help her, Haddish replied, “I don’t know, bro. I don’t have a job.”
In a separate TMZ video, the actress said she’s “worried about the kids and making sure they’re OK,” adding that she felt the lawsuit had been withdrawn and that she Don’t talk to Spears.
