Red zone sealed in view of possible long march of PTI

The federal capital’s red zone has been sealed off from shipping containers in anticipation of possible protests. The Long March Or demand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sit-in? Early elections, Geo News reported on Wednesday.
Access to the famous D Chowk is blocked overnight by barbed wire and shipping containers.
Additional police force has been deployed at the entrances and exits of the federal capital.
To deal with the emergency, the Islamabad Police has called for 30,000 police, paratroopers and FC Force personnel from the provinces – 20,000 from Punjab, 4,000 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 6,000 personnel from Rangers and FC Force.
The provincial governments of Punjab and KP are yet to decide how to respond to Islamabad’s request.
To prevent PTI supporters from entering the federal capital, the city administration plans to dig trenches besides placing hundreds of containers at the entrances of Islamabad. The Islamabad police termed it as PTI’s fourth protest dharna.
According to the sources, additional supply of tear gas shells and drones have been requested for throwing tear gas shells.
At least 3000 FC personnel have already reached Islamabad.
“Some people from Punjab have left for the federal capital to pursue their political demands,” said a statement issued by the Islamabad Police spokesperson.
The spokesman said that security has been beefed up around the red zone to deal with any untoward incident.
Section 144 has been enacted in Islamabad, which states that violators will be dealt with according to law.
Imran Khan had directed the KPK party leaders earlier this month. Begin preparations for the long march. In Islamabad, he also appealed to the party workers to wait for the Islamabad call as it has been decided to go to the federal capital.
He said that the imported government cannot be given more time.
‘I will come to Islamabad again’
