WATCH: Karachiites enraged by KMC tax charges toss garbage into KE van

The people of Karachi are burdened with high electricity bills which are never ending again and again Load shedding through K-Electric, the city’s electricity provider.

K Electric has once again become a source of frustration for the citizens after Karachi Metropolitan Corporation announced further increase in electricity bills. (KMC) Payment of Tax.

Reacting to this, the worried citizens have started a campaign of littering. KE Wayne, it emerged on Sunday. In one such incident, some citizens were throwing garbage bags into a KE van going to a neighborhood in Karachi for routine work.

A video of the incident went viral on social media. In it, some men were seen running away with garbage bags from bins installed by the KMC in the area, and threw them into a passing KE van.

Men were heard shouting “Take out the trash (Take the garbage with you). Annoyed by this move, the KK workers stopped the van and one of them got down to ask what had happened.

“Bro You are collecting KMC tax from us. […] So take the garbage with you,” said a man. Realizing that there was no way to stop the citizens, the KE workers left quietly.

Soon after this video went viral, another video surfaced showing citizens throwing garbage outside K’s office near Power House in New Karachi.

Additionally, there are reports that citizens have started calling the KE helpline and complaint centers to clean up garbage in their localities.

The campaign focuses on dumping garbage in KE vans plying in their areas or dumping it outside its office if the company is collecting civic administration taxes on behalf of the KMC.

How much tax KE customers have to pay to KMC:

KMC aims to earn an estimated Rs 3 billion annually by collecting Municipal Utility Charges and Taxes (MUTC) through KE electricity bills. News Reported

As per the agreement reached between KMC and KE, the power utility will keep 7 percent of the amount as recovery charges, which works out to Rs 300 million.

A KMC official said that KE will collect tax from 24 million units across the city.
