A group of Atletico Madrid fans were caught on camera chanting racist chants at Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior ahead of the Madrid derby on Sunday.

In a video posted on Twitter by Spanish radio station COPE, a large group of Atletico supporters can be heard outside Atleti’s Metropolitano stadium chanting: “You’re a monkey, Vinícius, you’re a monkey. be.”

It came just a day after Vinicius condemned what he described as racist criticism he received for his dancing goal celebrations.

Appearing on Spanish TV on Friday, Pedro Bravo – a leading agent and president of the Association of Spanish Agents – compared the Brazilian’s dance celebrations after scoring a goal to the behavior of a monkey, arguing that forwards The opponents were not respected and “the game should be stopped. Bravo was accused by many on social media of using racist language. After apologizing on Twitter.

Atletico did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment about the chanting outside the stadium, but wrote on Twitter Before the game: “Support Atleti with passion and respect for the opponent!”
