Queen Elizabeth II will be buried with two pieces of jewellery she loved the most – Times of India

Britain’s beloved Queen, Elizabeth II departed for her heavenly abode on September 8, 2022, and was laid to rest at Westminster Abbey, where she married Prince Philip in 1947 and was crowned in 1953. On Monday, the late Queen will be buried at Windsor Castle alongside her late husband Prince Philip and parents King George VI and the Queen’s mother and sister Princess Margaret. Burial will follow the funeral service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. But the one thing that is being written about the most right now is the pieces of jewelery that will adorn the Queen once she is laid to rest.

Over the 96 years of her life, the Queen was known for her beauty, strength of character and taste in jewelry and, as expected, some pieces of jewelry from the royal treasury will accompany her to the grave.

Lisa Levinson, head of communications at the Natural Diamond Council, told Metro.co.uk, “Her Majesty is an incredibly humble woman at heart who is unlikely to wear anything other than the comfort of her simple Welsh gold wedding band. Took another pair. Pearl earrings.”

He also said that the late Queen’s engagement ring, a diamond ring that originally belonged to Prince Philip’s mother, Princess Alice of Battenberg, is likely to be inherited by the Queen’s daughter, Princess Anne. “The young Prince Philip was closely involved in the design of Elizabeth’s engagement ring, which is set in platinum and features eleven natural diamonds – a three-carat round solitaire diamond, and five smaller stones set on each side.”

He added that the Queen’s engagement ring – which belonged to Prince Philip’s mother Princess Alice of Battenberg – would most likely be given to the Queen’s daughter, Princess Anne. “The young Prince Philip was closely involved in the design of Elizabeth’s engagement ring, which is set in platinum and features eleven natural diamonds – a three-carat round solitaire diamond, and five smaller stones set on each side.”

This will change the way Queen Victoria was buried. According to reports, Victoria was buried with a ring on each finger, bracelets on her wrists and a layer of necklaces around her neck.

Elizabeth’s coffin will be flown in the Royal Standard – a flag that represents the sovereign and the United Kingdom, and will be adorned with the Imperial State Crown as it was displayed at recent funerals. The Queen’s orb and her scepter will also accompany her coffin.
