Schools should also regularly wash their campuses with anti-dengue and anti-malarial insecticides.
This month, 2469 people fell victim to dengue in Karachi.
To deal with the increasing cases of dengue virus, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon on Sunday issued a notification banning assembly and physical training (PT) sessions in schools.
Memon also informed the standard operating procedure that all schools – be it government or private – must follow, such as ensuring students wear full-sleeved dresses.
Schools have been asked to regularly wash their campuses with anti-dengue and anti-malarial insecticides.
They should also conduct an information session in the campus to educate teachers and students about the necessary precautions to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.

General Secretary of Pakistan Medical Association Dr. Qaiser Sajjad while speaking. Geo NewsHe said that the government statistics of dengue in Karachi are different from the actual number of cases.
“Many dengue victims are getting treatment from nearby small clinics,” he said.
He further said that there is a difference between the number of deaths released by the government and the actual figures.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Health Department says dengue wards are operational in government hospitals in the province.
It said that 722 beds have been allocated for dengue patients in hospitals across Sindh and 574 beds allocated for dengue in the province are currently vacant.
According to the Health Department, 140 dengue patients are under treatment in government hospitals in Karachi.
The department said that 2469 people have suffered from dengue in Karachi this month. It said 4,676 cases of dengue were reported in the city during the year, adding that 11 people died of dengue in Karachi this year.
