Only PM Shehbaz Sharif will appoint new army chief: Fazl tells Imran Khan

• Fazal says that ever since Khan was “convicted in the foreign funding case,” he has resorted to tactics to suppress the truth.

• He further said that the elections in the country will be as per the decision of the coalition government.

PESHAWAR: JUI(F) chief and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday once again hit out at PTI Chairman Imran Khan and reminded him that the next Army Chief Only Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has the power of appointment.

Speaking during the JUI-F provincial general council meeting, Fazal referred to Khan’s ouster from power in April, saying the PDM had successfully crushed “sedition”.

The JUI-F chief said that whenever he gives a speech, he only blows his own trumpet. Fazal also demanded that the PTI-led government ” State Bank of Pakistan Hostage to IMF demands.”

In response to Khan’s statements regarding the appointment of the army chief and elections in the country, Fazal said. “In the past, Khan used to say that the army chief should be sacked but now he wants his tenure to be extended, but we remind him that the army chief will be appointed by Prime Minister Shehbaz.”

The PDM chief added that since Khan “has been found guilty in the foreign funding case,” he has adopted some tactics to suppress the truth.
