ISLAMABAD: Renewing his call for early elections, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said on Saturday that his party will lead an aggressive protest campaign against inflation as the country’s economic administrators fail to do their job. have “totally failed”.

Speaking to the media after the PTI core committee meeting, Chaudhry said, “The party has decided to call its local cells for protests against rising prices due to the current economic situation in the country.”

Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed was also with him.

“If the government continues to drag its feet on the polls, we will wait for the final call in these two weeks as consultations are on. We think workers should wait for the final call in September,” the PTI leader said.

Chaudhry said the PTI core committee was “deeply disturbed” by the sudden rise in street crimes in major cities, adding that the incidents had reached unprecedented levels.

“A large number of factories have closed, while unemployment has skyrocketed in the last four months. It is estimated that another 1 million people will lose their jobs in the next few months.

He said the rupee and the stock market were still “gasping for air” after the release of the International Monetary Fund tranche, which meant the government was out of solutions for these economic woes.

“Whether the government likes it or not, Pakistan will eventually go to vote, as soon as possible. PTI will stop at nothing before the elections.

In response to a question, he said that there was no provision for a technocrat or interim government in the constitution and anything like that would be “martial law”.

Chaudhry said that whatever has to be done will be done this month.
