NYC mother arraigned in Coney Island drowning deaths

A New York City mother went on trial Friday on murder charges after being charged. Drowning his three children On the shores of Coney Island.
Erin Merdy, 30, was flown from the hospital where she was referred for a psychiatric evaluation.
His attorney at Brooklyn Defender Services told The Associated Press he had no comment.
The Brooklyn District Attorney’s office said Murdy was charged with first- and second-degree murder in the deaths of her children: 7-year-old Zachary Murdy, 4-year-old Lilianna Stephens-Murdy and 3-month-old Oliver Bondario.

In a criminal complaint, Mirdy allegedly told the relative that “she hurt her kids and they’re gone.”
Authorities found Mirdy on the Coney Island boardwalk. She was wet and barefoot about two miles from where the children were.
The three children were found unresponsive on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Her ex-husband, Derrick Murdy, told The New York Times that her son, Zachary, would come in on a promiscuous visit and complain that he couldn’t get enough to eat.
