Britain is in mourning after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, with people from around the world attending the queen’s televised funeral. The world is witnessing family members standing together in solidarity in this hour of grief. It’s nice to see Prince William and Harry, despite their rumored differences, with their respective wives, who aren’t exactly known for being friendly with each other.

King Charles III, along with his sons William and Harry and their wives Princess Kate and Meghan Markle, joined other family members for the service, which was followed by the carriage of the late queen’s coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall on Wednesday. After the procession, where it is to be kept until the funeral and burial on Monday, September 19, 2022.

Both duchesses were impeccably dressed, following the dress code. They respectively wore black, which is said to be the official color code for funerals. Also noted, was the fact that both were wearing niqabs, attached to their fascinators, a royal ceremonial headpiece.

According to reports, royal women are expected to wear traditional black veils at funerals.

According to Independent.co.uk, they are called “mourning veils”, because they are a symbol of grief and indicate that the wearer is in mourning. Black lace is also considered practical as it allows the wearer some privacy to express their feelings.

Royal women were also seen wearing niqabs at Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021.
