ECP slaps fine on Imran Khan, other PTI leaders over code breach

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Thursday. Chairman PTI Imran Khan And other party leaders including Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for violating the code of conduct for the upcoming by-elections. Geo News Reported
According to ECP, PTI leaders including… Party Chairman Imran Khan And KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan attended a rally in Peshawar and used state resources ahead of the by-elections.
After the violation, District Monitoring Officer (DMO), Peshawar, Shahabuddin had sent notices to PTI Chairman, KPK Chief Minister and others and sought an explanation.
According to NewsCounsel for Imran Khan, Mehmood Khan and Cabinet members appeared before the DMO and submitted written reply.
An ECP official said that the DMO has given 50-50 to Imran Khan, Mehmood Khan, provincial cabinet members Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Ishtiaq Armad, Shaukat Yousafzai, Kamran Bangash, Anwar Zeb, while describing the response as satisfactory. A fine of Rs. Muhammad Iqbal, Khaliqur Rahman and Wazirzada. They were directed to deposit the fine amount in the exchequer by September 18.
The ECP also sent letters to the KP Governor and Chief Minister, asking them not to violate the code of conduct for the by-elections during Imran Khan’s rally in Charsadda on September 17.
