At least 9 dead in stampede at concert in Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY – At least nine people were killed and about 20 injured during a stampede in Guatemala early Thursday morning, according to firefighters.

The victims were apparently crushed to death by people trying to enter an outdoor music concert.

Quetzaltenango city manager, Amilcar Rivas, said the event’s organizers had no grip on security and crowd control. He said that there was a permit for this event.
